Vicki "Nah" (Pinion) Abernathy

January 6, 1953 ~ September 8, 2020 (age 67)

Vicki "Nah" Pinion Abernathy passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 with family by her side.  She spent the last five years as a resident of Paulding County in Rockmart with her husband and partner of 44 years, Ed, where they moved to  live closer to their children and grandchildren.  Vicki loved spending time with her family and friends and enjoyed her beagle, Abner, who stayed by her side and three basset hounds.

Vicki was born January 6, 1953, and grew up in Marietta with her parents, Ed and Juanita Pinion, and brother Tony.  She attended Osborne High School where she graduated in the Class of 1971.  She attended Cobb Vocational School where she studied cosmetology.  Vicki worked as a hairstylist at several salons including JC Penny's before having her own beauty shop in Marietta for many years, His 'n Her Hairstyle.

Vicki's hobbies included going hunting and fishing with Ed and their friends, playing pool, playing poker, going four-wheeling with Ed and the boys, NASCAR, collecting beanie babies at one time, and spending lots of time with her family and many friends.

Vicki's house was always a gathering place on the weekends.  Her shoulders were always there to cry on.  Her arms were always there to grab you up in a big hug.  She was always a constant for so many.  Vicki left this world entrusted with many secrets that her friends and family have confided in her through the years.

Her grandson, Cole, named her "Nah" when he was big enough to talk and she has since been known as Nah to all the grandchildren and to many family and friends.

Some of the things that will always remind us of Nah are tie dye and peace signs, anything purple, classic rock, camo, basset hounds and beagles, "Achy Breaky Heart", margaritas at Mexico Lindo, lemon flavored anything, crushed ice from Zaxby's and some crinkle cut fries, mustard on her hamburger, bleached blonde hair, and making the best deer jerky around....A truly genuine and unique lady who will never be forgotten.

Besides her parents, Vicki is preceeded in death by her brother, Tony Pinion and her stepson, Keith Abernathy.  Survivors include: her husband, Ed Abernathy; her son and his wife, Bryan and Amy Abernathy of Rockmart, GA; her stepdaughter, Lacey Zalewski of Douglasville, GA; her grandchildren, Cole, Luke, Gabby, and Maddie; and many other beloved close family and friends.

A memorial service to celebrate Vicki's life will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, September 13, 2020 at Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel & Crematory in Buchanan, GA.  The family welcomes everyone to come for a visitation one hour prior to the service from 2:00pm to 3:00pm.
