Chief Ronald "Ron" Storey Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Chief Ron Storey of the Cobb County School District (CCSD) Police Department on Thursday, April 3, 2025. Chief Storey was deeply respected and admired by all who had the privilege of knowing him. We will forever be grateful for his remarkable service in law enforcement, which spanned over 50 years.

Born and raised in Cobb County, Georgia. Chief Storey's commitment to service began early. After graduating, he enlisted in the Air Force and honorably served our country during the Vietnam War. Following his active duty, he was stationed in Texas for a period and continued as security police in the reserves upon returning to Georgia, where he retired from the Air National Guard.

His distinguished law enforcement career began with the Atlanta Police Department, followed by a pioneering role in the newly established Fulton County Police Department. In 1986, he joined the Cobb County Police Department, where his exceptional leadership and expertise propelled him through the ranks, culminating in his appointment as Deputy Chief.

Driven by a lifelong pursuit of knowledge and professional excellence, Chief completed his bachelor's degree at Kennesaw State University and later a Master's at Columbus State University. He proudly graduated from the FBI National Academy. He further enhanced his knowledge by earning multiple certificates from the Georgia Law Enforcement Professional Management Program and Command College through Columbus State University.

Upon retiring from local law enforcement in 2013, the Cobb County School District was fortunate to welcome Chief Storey to the team. He utilized his extensive knowledge and experience to build a remarkable school police department, committed to delivering the highest level of safety for students, staff, and the community. Under his leadership, his insightful vision and tireless commitment to public safety left a lasting impact on the department. His legacy will continue to inspire and guide CCSD Police Department in the years to come.

The police officers and staff who had the privilege to serve under his leadership will forever be grateful for his strength of character and steadfast dedication to his team. He was a great person and will be deeply missed.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Chief Storey's family and friends during this difficult time.
