Steve Sauls was one of my best friends ever. He was an exceptional drummer, he loved music, and he had an exceptional sense of humor. We had many adventures with our other great friends Jimmy McCall, Dicky Tillison, and Steve Kendrick and we spent lots of time camping, playing music, telling outrageous tales, and learning all the things that only the closest of friends learn growing up together.
Steve Sauls was a loyal friend and he always had your back. There are far too many stories to tell about our amazing friend and this wonderfully good person and I wish there were more. Devastatingly, we lost him far too early in an automobile accident. I often wonder about the stories and fun we've missed and there will always be a hole in my heart by not being able to share the world with my dear friend, Steve Sauls. One of the key things I've learned is that the longevity of your best friends is never guaranteed. Call them often, hang out and share good times as much as you can, hold them dear so they will say good things about you when you're gone, and most of all, great friends are rare and should never be taken for granted. There are few gifts as precious as a "best friend."
I miss you Steve, and rarely does a day go by when I don't think about all the great times and all you added to my life and the lives of so many.
